Classified Shredding Services Helps to Provide a
Safer, More Secure, Fear-Free Community for Monroe County
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – May 16, 2007 –Classified Shredding Services, a division of
LAICO Industries and Services under parent company Lifetime Assistance and the
New York State Industries for the Disabled (NYSID) announce their designation as
a New York State Preferred Source Vendor for secure document destruction. Under
the Preferred Source program, state and municipal governments can purchase from
preferred sources when the services meet the form, function and utility
requirements of the government at the market’s prevailing rate. Classified
Shredding Services (CSS) provides shredding services for businesses and
governments throughout Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and the Southern Tier.
One of the first government agencies to participate in the program is Monroe
County. The county is in the process of meeting the records retention and
disposition schedule revised by New York State in 2006. The Schedule, a 314-page
document, indicates the minimum length of time officials must retain records
before they can be disposed of, and encourages the systematic disposal of
unneeded records. “Working with the records management officers for our area
will allow us to take an affirmative defense against consumer safety,
litigation, and business interruption.” says Tom Hicks, General Manager and
Director of Vocational Services for Lifetime Assistance.
Classified Shredding Services is an affirmative business of LAICO Industries and
Services, operated by parent organization Lifetime Assistance, a nonprofit
agency that helps people with disabilities to realize their full potential as
productive, contributing members of our community and achieve their goals. Since
beginning operations in October 2005, CSS has become a growing force in secure
document destruction, currently serving more than 25 local customers and
providing assistance to over 60 different locations. “Our mission is to provide
the best possible protection services for area businesses while simultaneously
providing expanding employment opportunities for people with disabilities,” says
Tom Hicks.
